Emilie, Emily Kemp
Emilie is a functional and decorative serif typeface. The base of Emilie is Didot. I was inspired by a typeface I had come across called Paris. Paris is used in a lot of fashion magazines. I would like to use Emillie for promotional purposes. I practiced writing all the letters by hand and then scanned them. Then, using Illustrator I created vectors and was able to alter each letter. I decided to name my new typeface after myself. I changed the spelling to give it a little something extra. Emilie, I think, describes me. If I were a typeface, I think that’s what I would look like.  Spring 2012

About:

These are the final typography projects created in the 'What's Your Type?' course at the School of Visual Arts. The students are majors from graphic design, illustration, film & video, cartooning, photography, advertising, sculpture, and computer art & visual effects. For many students, this course was their first introduction to the wonderful world of typography that we all passionately love.
